Description

This Shrimp & Steak Fried Rice is a hearty, flavor-packed meal that’s perfect for busy weeknights. Juicy shrimp, tender steak, and vibrant vegetables come together with savory soy and sesame for a quick dish ready in just 30 minutes. It’s a versatile recipe, great for meal prep, and easy to customize with your favorite proteins or veggies. Perfectly satisfying for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 lb steak, thinly sliced
  • 3 cups cooked rice (preferably day-old)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup frozen peas and carrots, thawed
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the steak slices, season with salt and pepper, and stir-fry until browned. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add shrimp and cook until pink and cooked through. Remove and set aside with the steak.
  • Add sesame oil to the skillet and sauté garlic and onion until softened, about 2 minutes.
  • Stir in peas and carrots, cooking for 2-3 minutes until tender.
  • Push the vegetables to one side of the skillet and pour in beaten eggs. Scramble until fully cooked.
  • Add the cooked rice, mix well with vegetables and eggs, and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  • Return the steak and shrimp to the skillet, stir everything together, and drizzle with soy sauce. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use day-old rice for the best texture—it’s less sticky and fries up nicely.
  • Want extra flavor? Add a splash of oyster sauce or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for some heat.
  • You can easily substitute other proteins like chicken or tofu, or switch up the veggies based on what you have on hand.
