  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup softened butter (for frosting)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 1/4 cup milk (for frosting)
  • 1 cup chopped Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
  • 1/2 cup chocolate ganache (for drizzling)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl, mix sugar, eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Gradually add dry ingredients. Stir in boiling water until smooth.
  • Divide the batter evenly between the pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the cakes cool completely.
  • For the frosting, beat peanut butter, softened butter, and powdered sugar. Add milk until the frosting is smooth.
  • Frost the cooled cakes and sprinkle chopped Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups on top.
  • Drizzle with chocolate ganache. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra crunch, add more chopped Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups between the layers!
  • If you prefer, substitute the chocolate ganache with melted chocolate chips or caramel sauce.
