- 1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (240ml) buttermilk
- 1 cup (240g) cornmeal
- 2 tbsp hot sauce
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the buttermilk and hot sauce. Add shrimp and marinate for 15 minutes.
- In another bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne, salt, and pepper.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Dredge the marinated shrimp in the flour mixture until fully coated.
- Fry shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
- Drizzle hot fried shrimp with honey and toss to coat evenly.
- Serve with lemon wedges and your favorite dipping sauce!
