  • 1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (240ml) buttermilk
  • 1 cup (240g) cornmeal
  • 2 tbsp hot sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix the buttermilk and hot sauce. Add shrimp and marinate for 15 minutes.
  • In another bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne, salt, and pepper.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  • Dredge the marinated shrimp in the flour mixture until fully coated.
  • Fry shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  • Drizzle hot fried shrimp with honey and toss to coat evenly.
  • Serve with lemon wedges and your favorite dipping sauce!
